River Conditions |
| The description below will help describe the current water levels in which we operate on the Hocking River . We use a value of cubic feet per second (CFPS)to determine the following river conditions. You can access the graph from the link to the right. |
Todays water conditions are SMOOTH SAILING |
| THE RIVER RUNS DRY- Water conditions are lower than normal. No rafts allowed. Two people maximum per canoe. Children under 10 and nonswimmers must wear lifejackets. These level is applied when water levels are less than 50 CFPS. |
| SMOOTH SAILING - Ideal water conditions. All watercrafts can go although rafts are not recommended. Two adults and two children per canoe. Children under 10 and nonswimmers must wear lifejackets. This water level is valid when water levels are between 50 to 400 CFPS. |
| SLIPPERY WHEN WET- Trip I or II only! River is higher than normal. Use caution. Everyone must wear lifejackets. Only experienced canoeist will be allowed to take canoes or kayaks. Unexperienced canoeist must take rafts. An experienced canoeist will be determined by the staff at HVCL. Children under 10 must in a raft. No Tubes. No alcohol in canoes! Slippery when wet applies when CFPS is between 400 and 650. |
| SURGEON GENERAL WARNING - Rafts only on the Hocking River. Canoes and kayaks can be transported to Lake Logan. Plus all conditions of yellow . This condition applies when water levels are between 650 and 800 CFPS. |
| RIVER WILD - River is much higher than normal. Possible flooding. No river trips on the Hocking River. Canoes and kayaks can be trasported to Lake Logan. River Wild is valid when water is higher that 800 CFPS. |
