Hocking Hills Adventures The original and first tourist recreational business in the Hocking Hills. Since 1976 we pride ourselves in...
Top 10 reasons for choosing Us
We were the first company in the Hocking Hills to see tourism as viable resource. When we opened in 1976, the area’s major industry was manufacturing. Three decades later tourism has become the most important commerce. Today the industry empowers over 100 businesses and employees over 982 people. We have been owned and operated by the same owners for 40 years.
We are proud to offer the best brands in the paddlesports industry. We only use Jackson, Old Town and We-no-nah canoes and kayaks. The Old Town Discovery canoes have comfortable backrests at no additional cost. Also we have a great selection of kayaks, perfect for the beginner or the novice kayaker.
Hocking Hills has become one of Ohio’s top tourist destinations. It is easy to see why since the area has nine breathtaking state parks that link hundreds of trails together. In addition to the parks, Hocking Hills has grown to include numerous outdoor activities including canopy tours, ATV rentals, horseback riding and bicycle trails. With so much to do being centrally located in the Hocking Hills is ideal. Our combined 200 acre facility is within minutes of the most popular state parks and outdoor attractions.
Why not be the family hero since our prices are so affordable? Take the family (two adults and two kids) on a 5 mile canoe ride for less than $35. For an all day event do the Fun Package for $34 a person. Call up your old college roommates or recruit your coworkers because 12 people are all you need for a discount. (It is ok if you do not know or like most of them)
Packages are popular because they save time and money. We offer superzip package, family fun package, and horseback package. It feels good to save money.
You will not find a more pristine and natural campground in the Hocking Hills. Our Riverside Campground borders the Hocking River in a heavily wooded 83 acres. Most sites have access to swimming and or fishing. The campground also provides a private beach area for our customers. If you are looking for a campground that provides a total outdoor experience we have the campground for you!.
The best Hocking River trips means a slowly increasing distribution of miles and time to ensure you get the adventure that is right for you. Crocketts Run to Livery is 5 miles and 1-2 hours, Natural Rockbridge to Livery is 7 miles/ 2-3 hours, Clear Creek to Livery is 11 miles and 3-5 hours and finally, Rush Creek to Livery, is 19 miles and 10 hours. Each expedition increases just enough so you are on the river for the desired amount of time.
There is a difference between being family owned and being operated by an outside corporation. Outdoor adventure is not only what we do, it is all we do. Every decision is made by us with our customers in mind. More than likely you will meet the people that have worked hard to keep the canoe livery in operation for so long. You can even engage in conversation on why they started the canoe livery. (What the heck were they thinking?)
Facilities are important. We can accommodate any group of any size. We have two modern shower houses and two picnic pavilions free of use to all of our customers
Fun Customer Service
So What? Every company has some sort of equipment, every company has a “location” and every company has a “facility”. If all the above are the same, then one aspect stands out: customer service. Hocking Valley Canoe Livery believes that since canoeing and kayaking are fun, service should be offered that way too. We will not put your in front of a generic safety video before your departure; instead we prefer hands on instruction, passionate canoeists teaching you the basic paddle techniques, the type of wildlife to expect and everything in between. On the shuttle to river destinations, we discuss historic landmarks, the Natural Rockbridge and the Hocking Canal. Customer service starts before you sign up for a trip, before you set foot in the parking lot and before you make the initial reservation. Customer service starts the minute you find out about us. We strive to answer all emails and phone calls within the same day and provide you with the best information so you can make the most of your time in the Hocking Hills, even if it is not booking with us.
Our trips run on a scenic section of the Hocking River, starting at Sugar Grove and all trips conclude at the Canoe Livery. "My family has been going to Hocking Hills adventures for over 18 years. We go for Father's Day every year, and repeatedly just for fun. They keep the river clean, and natural. We have camped out and celebrated birthdays, canoed, kayaked and also used the big inner tube with 7 kids. It was a blast. A great place to enjoy family, friends and just an awesome time with your kids! Kelly K. -Yelp Review 2/28/2015"
"My family and I have been canoeing here since I was 8! I am now in my late twenties and I have introduced this to my husband and we have been canoeing it for 4 years now! I love this place! I love the people! Shane and his family have done a very nice job with it and have made it grow to be bigger than it has but have always maintained a close relationship with the customers! My family and I agree that every time we visit we feel like we are seeing great friends! I have also camped here and canoed the next day at least 20 times! I have also had my bachelorette party on the river! What a blast!!!!! It will be exciting to take our daughter when she is old enough to do it!! Thank you to the staff for always making sure everything is perfect and well kept!! Cheers to more memories!! Thanks you to everyone who make this place awesome to visit!!!" - Cassi U -Trip Advisor Review 7/14/2014
"A great experience! Primative camping but HUGE sites for tent camping. We camped at the riverside sites. We were able to reserve a spot right on the beach on the river. My boys had a blast finding shells in the water! The shower house is pretty much a drive but not far and not a big deal. Go carts were a blast, simple but fun! Our family rode alone on the track and had at least 5 laps on the track. Staff were very friendly and down to earth people! Canoeing was fun water was shallow we got stuck in a few spots but it was fun! I recommend wearing shoes you don't care get wet because you probably will have to get out and walk at the end location. Definitely fun! Don't recommend if your used to city living and afraid to get down and dirty Will visit again." - Natasha B. Google Plus Review 9/22/2014
"We rent from Hocking Hills Adventures every time we visit Hocking Hills! The canoes and kayaks are comfortable, and the staff is fun. There are several trips to choose from. Trip 2 is a good length/time for us! On this latest trip, our driver, George, told us to keep an eye out for otters as they were storing up for the winter and building their nests. Sure enough - we saw one while we were canoeing! George even met us at the drop off dock and helped us unload. He's fun, personable and really added to the enjoyment of our day." Dan F.
